A Heap of Anime Updates Landed Over the Festive Season

The Yuletide season present a plethora of pursuits far superior than scanning the latest news: discovering surprises, indulging in delicious food, and employing meditation skills to refrain from snapping at relatives. It is wished you managed to enjoy all these things and more. Nevertheless, the entertainment world doesn't go on vacation, and this is particularly true for the realm of anime. A slew of thrilling news items emerged over the festive period, and should you overlooked any, here is a summary of the most exciting bits.

One-Punch Man Season 3 Is Set to Continue (Come 2027)

Perhaps the most surprising piece of news, the notorious troubled production that was the third season of One-Punch Man proved insufficient to deter more episodes. The show will come back with a subsequent part in 2027—so far away they easily could have dubbed it season 4. Even more shocking, animation studio J.C. Staff will continue to be in charge. Thankfully this time, director Shinpei Nagai is on board to direct from the start, which is seen as a good sign. Yet, the key visual for the continuation is identical to the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This suggests that, nowadays, they must be trolling the fans.

The Ruri Dragon Series Will Be the First Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has built a reputation for being an prestigious animation studio, making its mark not just for the exceptional quality of its productions but for the ethical practices of its employees—a sadly unusual standard in the industry. Unexpectedly, until now, it had not produced an anime based on a manga from Shonen Jump, possibly the best-known magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a great choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo gained massive popularity when it debuted in 2022 after just a few chapters, but then went into a lengthy break due to the author's health issues. When it returned with a reduced workload, the series showed it maintained the fans' support and enthusiasm, and now everyone is overjoyed about the impending KyoAni adaptation.

Kingdom is the highly popular, long-running Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've are unfamiliar with it before, it's because it only recently got an English translation, but the anime has been going on for some time, and its sixth season was yet another outstanding entry. As it happens that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been revealed as in production, and it will very likely air in 2026.

Science Saru Is Adapting A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series

A further studio famous for the excellent quality of its productions, Science Saru has given us masterpieces of the ilk of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, based on the actual historical person of Fatima, an influential woman and intellectual in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. From the trailer, the anime named Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a truly original and fascinating visual style, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will without a doubt be on my must-watch list.
