Following multiple episodes of suspense, schemes and sabotage, Celebrity Traitors concludes with a nail-biting finale
Spoiler alert - This article reveals key moments from The Celebrity Traitors conclusion
Over the course of the show, audiences saw murders, double-crosses, serious side-eye, and a memorable moment that cut through all suspense.
However on the final evening, the ultimate victor of the inaugural celebrity edition was revealed.
From 19 contestants, just a handful remained: Traitors and loyal players competing for the prize.
Soon, the field narrowed to only three contenders: the remaining contestants.
Ultimately, comedian Alan Carr emerged as the champion, in a shocking result that went viral and made him tearful.
"It's been tearing me apart, I'm so sorry," he declared, revealing to the remaining faithfuls that he was actually a traitor. "I feel terrible about this."
"You played amazingly," they consoled him. "Everything's fine."
Online platforms quickly erupted with the news. "Most awful traitor ever being the best traitor ever," wrote a viewer.
"It couldn't have been a better conclusion," stated a different person, while a third described it as "the television highlight of the year."
The organization he selected, a cancer charity, gets to keep all the prize money, with the total amount reaching £87,500.
Alan Carr's transformation from comic relief to cold-hearted killer was among the most memorable aspects of the series.
But his win still shocked viewers surprised, according to industry observers.
"The thought of him, of all people, executing a masterclass in deceit felt about as likely as him maintaining a straight face through his comedy routines."
During follow-up conversations, the other contestants explained why no one had ever really suspected him.
"Alan could have come down to breakfast in a green cloak and I still wouldn't have thought he was deceiving us. His humor distracted me," one participant said.
"Most people didn't target him because how can you eliminate someone who is so loveable?" asked another celebrity.
The winner stated he had "absolutely loved" his experience with the program.
"I want to participate once more... I doubt it would work again!"
The final installment was extended to 70 minutes on the network. It had a different start than usual, as every celebrity were aware who would appear at the morning gathering.
Viewers heard particularly inspiring, and very un-Traitors-esque soundtrack, as the episode revisited key scenes from each of the finalists' experience in the game.
As ever, the comedian gave us unforgettable quotes.
"Let's face it, I started the competition as something of a nervous wreck. I've thrown close allies under the bus, I've murdered beloved figures in plain sight. I'm clearly more deceptive and traitor than I thought."
At the same time, another contestant commented that reaching the conclusion was "significantly more pressure than competing with England", while another said he was "completely amazed" to have lasted this long.
Early on of the finale, various contestants appeared to be making a bid to become the new style icon of the castle, replacing the previously eliminated fashionable contestant.
The winner appeared at the morning meal looking like a 1950s US chat show host in a checked maroon suit, before changing into a bejewelled white suit.
But he was outstyled by another contestant's maroon velvet tuxedo. Impressive style.
Following this was the competition, with the remaining contestants boarding a locomotive called - naturally - The Deceivers' Railway.
The challenge saw them ripping up portraits of eliminated players. Spare a thought for a player who managed to get hit on the head multiple times by the cover of a heavy wooden box.
Before long, it was time for the elimination discussion.
Two traitors did a pinky promise beforehand, vowing to stick together. "We've progressed significantly, I won't betray him," said a player, while the other simply laughed.
However, one adhered to their agreement. Yet, managing to stay unnoticed for the majority of the competition, their partner still received the majority elimination votes.
The last deceiver looked like he was in significant distress to be the final deceiver remaining. "Being alone, I'm frightened," he said. "I'm a loose cannon, a rudderless ship."
Social media and viewers were equally disappointed.
"I hoped against that player to be eliminated. An endearing deceiver," commented a commentator.
"Your legacy will remain in Traitors history," wrote a different viewer.
But there was no time to focus on their elimination. Soon, the game reached the endgame - this being what we were really all here for.
The last players gathered around the ceremonial fire. And the alliance collapsed, just when it mattered the most, in an absolutely shocking development.
One contestant was painfully banished - after a shock vote from their partner, who turned against them.
"It hurts to be stabbed in the back last minute in that manner," remarked the eliminated player. Later, we learned that if they ever communicate, the eliminated contestant refers to their former ally by a betrayer's name.
Ultimately, just three players remained in the game: the final trio.
One player, looking incredibly smug, chose to conclude the game. The same decision was made by a different player, and it all came down to the final participant, who did the same - resulting in the deceiver was the winner.
For observers, the moment where the other players comforted the winner was "compelling television". "I anticipate it will be in the running for memorable moment at television honors," they commented.
Happily, the champion soon recovered from his bout of tears, and was able to enjoy the moment.
"Such an emotional journey. I thought I was terrible at deception, my expressions gave me away and here I am a winner," he said.
He also joked about that infamous murder - his close ally during the initial stages - by leaning toward the presenter in the concluding moments and making contact.
"There's something on your face," he said, with his characteristic laugh.
The last few weeks of famous people scheming, scheming and sometimes surprising incidents may seem like one big crazy jumbled dream. But it really did all happen. It will be remembered fondly.
