Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to express about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can at last put my grief into words," shared Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, remarking that he could not remember "one day without laughter".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of murder, with a official listing noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
